NADA 2025: A show of strength of how the global automotive industry can overcome difficulties

NADA Show 2025, hosted Jan. 23-26 in New Orleans, reaffirmed its role as an indispensable event for the global automotive industry. Despite weather adversity, which forced the international airport to be closed for more than 2 days due to what is said to be the largest snowfall in more than 100 years, the convention managed to prove its worth, providing a unique opportunity for industry professionals to catch up on the latest trends, discuss market challenges and forge new partnerships.

The increasing focus on the European market

In recent years, the U.S. market has shown a growing interest in the European market, with a particular focus on Italy, which is recognized as an advanced laboratory for innovation and adaptation to the challenges of the industry. This dynamic was confirmed by the invitation extended to Quintegia to participate as a speaker at the international round table, (an invitation that was reciprocated and will see NADA representatives on stage at Automotive Dealer Day 2025 from May 13 to 15 in Verona) testifying to the increasing importance of confrontation with global players to address the complexities of the market.

The convention touched on several crucial issues for the industry. Among the most debated topics:

  • Digitization and artificial intelligence: the growing adoption of digital tools to optimize dealership operations took center stage. ComplyAuto won the “Exhibitor Pitch” competition with an AI-based solution that aims to streamline processes that normally require a high investment of operational time on regulatory compliance and safety.
  • Profit outlook for dealers: according to data presented at the event, the average profit per dealer is expected to be down from last year, but will remain above that of the pre-pandemic period. Profitability and convenience are the words that best interpret how dealers will have to modulate their business in the coming year, with a focus on more conscious management not only for new but also for service and used issues.
  • Workforce management: skills shortages and the need for continuing education were central themes, with a focus on the adoption of new skills related to digitization and electrification. Another recurring theme is soft skills and a focus on the need to empower people to perform a role for which they are naturally inclined.
  • Electrification: the political situation has undoubtedly given a relevant signal on the issue, but there remains a strong focus on the need to upgrade charging infrastructure and make vehicles more affordable. Dealers have expressed concerns about the economic sustainability of the transition to electric without adequate government support. The energy transition, therefore, emerges as a challenge that is still open.
  • Consumer: despite a slight increase in incentives and a slight decline in U.S. car prices, overall consumer spending in the auto industry continues to grow, mainly due to financing rates.

NADA Show 2025 confirmed its centrality in the global automotive industry, providing industry professionals with valuable insights into emerging trends and future scenarios. The event provided a key meeting point for addressing market challenges with innovative strategies, keeping automotive distribution abreast of technological and business changes. With an ever-changing landscape, the ability to adapt and learn from each other across markets will be key to success in the coming years.
